Ben Garcia of Hideaway Kennels helped us to evaluate the litter for field potential.
He put a pidgeon wing on a stick and used it to spark interest in the puppies.
His goal was to get them to point the wing.
They would chase the wing as he moved it and eventually they would point the wing. This is the light green boy.
This made me laugh - yellow girl pointing sitting down! lol
He would also see if they would carry the wing. The pups love this part!
Two pups on point at the same time!
Yellow girl carrying the wing - she was so proud of herself!
Here is the pink girl carrying the wing in her mouth.
This is the pink girl - she was amazing!!
They were also very bold - they would venture off in the brush and use their noses.

I put the puppies outside for the first time today. It was finally warm enough. They had a ball!!! 11/21/09
Firt, they found Journey and wanted to nurse.
Then Journey would run away and they would chase her. They ran back and forth and I just laughed.
Here the puppies are again chasing Journey. It really was cute!
They finally did go off and "explore". This is the red boy who was chewing on the branches.
Journey came out of the doggy door and they were so dumbfounded and wondered how their mother could disappear and reappear again.
Out of the whelping box and into the ex pen.
Purple girl at 5 weeks old.

My husband Lenard holding a puppy.
The green boy kept chewing and pulling on this poor girl - she never did wake up!
Just look at those precious faces.
They are awake for much longer periods now.
I gave them some toys to play with - made for a nice pillow! lol
They are really starting to play with each other now.
No fair - 2 against one!!
I think I can eat the whole thing.
Here is the gang when they are hungry...
And here is the gang after they have eaten!
Can you see why Journey feels overwhelmed at feeding time?!
Look at the puppies crawling ALL over Journey!
The purple girl almost crawled out of the whelping box already!!
Yellow girl.
This is my daughter showing a puppy to my grandaughter. They were both too cute!!
Talk about a cool collage!
Eyes are opening! They are 12 days old already.
Just look how much bigger they are when compared to the first day!
This picture just makes me laugh! They will fall asleep anywhere in any position.
This was so cute - mom & baby both sound asleep.
They are starting to walk/wobble now.
Puppy pile - 8 days old.
5 days old.
All 13 in the whelping box - quite a pile of puppies huh!!
This is half of the litter in their puppy bin. The other half is in with Journey.
Look at the big ol' puppy belly. This is the light green boy.
They are nursing machines now.
Look in the middle of the puppies - see the little puppy bottom sticking out. lol
Look at how they are crawling all over mom - active little buggars!
Is that just the cutest head ever!
